Weatherford’s SWOSU Rodeo is a sanctioned event of the central plains region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. The SWOSU Rodeo draws over 600 cowboys and cowgirls that compete for a wide range of prizes that include money, buckles, saddles, and an opportunity to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Celebrate Oklahoma’s Western heritage at the Cheyenne & Arapaho Old Settlers Reunion in Cheyenne. This week-long festival is held every five years to commemorate April 19, 1892, Cheyenne-Arapaho land opening. Head to Roger Mills County for a variety of exciting events and fun activities that pay tribute to the Old West. There will be a talent contest, gospel sing, style show, quilt show, whiskers contest, parade, PRCA Rodeo, rodeo dance, 9-mile run, free barbecue, and many more events. There will be food and fun for the entire family.

The annual 89er Days Celebration commemorates the Land Run of 1889 and the birth of Guthrie. On April 22, 1889, tens of thousands of excited Victorian-era land seekers lined the borders of the Unassigned Lands of central Oklahoma in preparation for the first of five land runs in the state.

Make your way to Claremore for all the excitement of the annual Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo. Rodeo events include bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, mutton bustin’ for the kids, rodeo clowns and a dance following the nightly performance. See area cowboys compete in steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and more. Vendors will be on-site to sell Western wear and goods to the crowds. Pick up a cowboy hat and secure a spot in the stands for the Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo, an action-packed event you won’t want to miss. Rodeo queens will also be on hand to lead the opening ceremonies.

Head to the Durant Riding Club Arena for two days of exciting rodeo competition as the road to the Wrangler NFR in Las Vegas makes its way through Durant. Watch as the biggest names of professional rodeo and Wrangler NFR Bucking Stock show off their skills in the arena during this family-friendly event in Durant. The Durant Rodeo has been a staple event for more than 75 years.

One of the oldest PRCA rodeos in Oklahoma, the Woodward Elks Rodeo has often been dubbed the toughest rodeo in Oklahoma. Cheer on the riders as they compete in bull riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, and more.

Okmulgee’s Invitational Rodeo is the nation’s oldest African-American rodeo, one of the state’s longest-running rodeos, and one of the largest African-American sporting events in the nation. Entertaining audiences since 1956, the Okmulgee Invitational Rodeo also features a festival and parade Saturday afternoon. Several vendors set up to serve the crowd refreshments, and there will also be arts and craft booths for a perfect souvenir of this historic rodeo.

Watch an exciting rodeo event that will draw all of the top contestants from across the US and Canada to compete for cash prizes and titles at Oklahoma’s Richest Rodeo. Held at Guthrie’s Lazy E Arena, this rodeo is a world calf roping and breakaway roping event. Be sure to check out a variety of vendors for shopping and attend an after-party hosted by Kimes Ranch.
